Minimum wage rates are increasing in many states this year.  Unless otherwise noted, the minimum wage rates in bold are updated rates effective January 1, 2018.  States with no change in minimum wage rates are not bolded.

  • Alabama: No state minimum wage.  Federal minimum wage applies.
  • Alaska: $9.84
  • Arizona: $10.50
  • Arkansas: $8.50 (applicable to employers with 4 or more employees)
  • California: $11.00 (applicable to employers with 26 or more employees; for smaller employers, the rate is $10.50)
  • Colorado: $10.20
  • Connecticut: $10.10
  • Delaware: $8.25 (Raised to $8.75 as of October 1, 2018)
  • District of Columbia: $12.50
  • Florida: $8.25 
  • Georgia: $7.25; $5.15 if not covered by federal regulations (applicable to employers with 6 or more employees)
  • Hawaii: $10.10
  • Idaho: $7.25
  • Illinois: $8.25

  • Minnesota: Large employers (annual receipts of $500,000 or more) $9.65; Small employers (annual receipts less than $500,000) $7.87
  • Mississippi: No state minimum wage.  Federal minimum wage applies.
  • Missouri: $7.85
  • Montana: $8.30 for business with gross annual sales of more than $110,000; $4.00 for business with gross annual sales of $100,000 or less
  • Nebraska: $9.00 (applicable to employers with 4 or more employees)
  • Nevada: $8.25 with no health benefits provided by employer, $7.25 with health insurance benefits provided by employer
  • New Hampshire: $7.25
  • New Jersey: $8.60
  • New Mexico: $7.50
  • New York: $10.40
  • North Carolina: $7.25
  • North Dakota: $7.25
  • Ohio: Large employers (gross annual receipts of $305,000 or more) $8.30; Small employers (annual receipts less than $305,000) $7.25
